The Paranormal Distribution
When it comes to statistics jokes (why are there so few?), my hands-down favorite has to be the Paranormal Distribution. For 3 different classes at CMU, I’ve named my final projects team “Paranormal Distribution”, and it’s never let me down. I usually like to cite A visual comparison of normal and paranormal distributions by Matthew Freeman and just to see what the professor thinks on the Works Cited page. In my most recent project, I was even audacious enough to put it on the final report.
Unfortunately, “Paranormal Distribution” still remains my second-best team project name, ranking just under “Helen Keller”, the Wikipedia NLP project with Dylan and Chase. That one goes on my resume.
